Fertilization is a mandatory work to correct the trophic regime of the soil that, in many situations, is uneven and unsuitable in terms of the supply of fertilizing elements.

Choosing the best type of fertilizer to use on your lawn is not always the simplest choice. It should take into account different information such as:

  • analyses and nutritional potential of the soil
  • the culture for which it will be used
  • time and method of application
  • what is intended to improve or correct

Lawn mowing removes nutrient surfaces, so you must deliver nutrients as a supplement, by fertilization, to ensure maximum growth.

It is recommended to apply an organic slow release fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, inscribed N-P-K, depending on the species that make up your lawn and the fertility of the soil. Nitrogen is essential in the growth and development stage, phosphorus stimulates root growth, and potassium increases resistance to diseases and climatic factors.

Liquid fertilizers are absorbed faster than solid fertilizers. Also, foliar application has faster effects than adding fertilizers in the irrigation water. Therefore, liquid fertilizers represent a really good option if plants have major deficits and need immediate nutrients – and this happens quite frequently in Colorado’s type of climate.
